Electric Vehicles - Feasibility in council fleets
An exciting project assessing Electric Vehicles in the region is now complete. The 'Building a case for Electric Vehicles in regional council fleets' project developed a feasibility study and a business case for electric vehicles in our partner councils, bringing together the latest information for fleet managers and the community to learn more about the electric vehicle industry.
The Goulburn Broken Greenhouse Alliance (former name of the GMCA) is proud to have partnered with NDEVR Environmental, Greater Shepparton City Council, Benalla Rural City Council, Campaspe Shire Council, Indigo Shire Council, Mansfield Shire Council, Mitchell Shire Council, Moira Shire Council, Murrindindi Shire Council, Strathbogie Shire Council, Wangaratta Rural City Council, Wodonga City Council and the State Government to deliver this Collaborating Councils - Sustainability Fund Partnership Project. The final feasibility study and business case are now available here.
This study used travel data from council fleets to evaluate the suitability of electric vehicles in a regional setting. Important;ly, the study found passenger electric vehicles are suitable for the majority of trips councils make in the course of operations. Councils can include electric vehicles in their passenger fleets with confidence. Functionality will increase as more electric vehicle charge stations are installed around the region. Using electric vehicles contributes to the work of councils to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve environmental outcomes for their communities.
