EV FAST CHARGING SET TO TAKE OFF
The Goulburn Murray Climate Alliance is working to establish a fast charge electric vehicle network in the region. "Charging the Regions" showed this is essential as EV uptake increases. Members are scoping possible EV charging sites to prepare for new projects. More on this exciting project coming soon.
URBAN FORESTS OF THE GOULBURN MURRAY
In September 2021 Members have commenced a new project exploring opportunities to green urban areas in regional and rural northeast towns with the Naturally Cooler Towns project. Members will review the effect of drought tolerant urban forest species suited to this region, and get an up-to-date understanding of how our streets, and townships are coping right now.
COUNCILS SIGN UP FOR CORPORATE RENEWABLES
The Goulburn Murray Climate Alliance is proud to contribute to the Victorian Energy Collaboration, a local government led renewable power purchase agreement, and the largest local government greenhouse gas mitigation in Australia. VECO saw 46 councils join to use 100% renewable energy, which prevents 260,000 tonnes of CO2 entering our atmosphere every year. Our Members proudly contribute nearly 19,000 tonnes annually of this grand total. Many GMCA councils have taken a big step in getting to net zero emissions in joining this initiative, with six more of our Members set to consider also signing up. You can read more about this historic project here.
